Editorial Ethics Standards at Sapientia Publishing House
- Avoiding plagiarism and respecting intellectual property
Sapientia Publishing House is strongly committed to respecting intellectual property rights and preventing plagiarism. Primary responsibility rests with the authors. This obligation is expressly stipulated in the publishing contract, including the author’s declaration, under their own responsibility, that all submitted materials belong to them and that all citations are made in accordance with the legislation in force. - Authors are required to provide copies of reprint permissions for illustrations, graphics, tables, and any other materials protected by copyright.
- The publication of a volume or article in a journal may take place only after an ethical evaluation carried out by one or two reviewers who are different from the reviewers responsible for the scholarly evaluation of the work. This ethical evaluation must consider at least the following aspects:
a) the risk of plagiarism;
b) the proper attribution of ideas through bibliographic references;
c) conflicts of interest. - In order to avoid conflicts of interest, volumes and articles proposed for publication may not be peer-reviewed by relatives or relatives by affinity of the author, up to the second degree.
- In the decisions of the Editorial Board, as well as in other editorial decisions, persons who have a conflict of interest shall not have the right to vote.
- Withdrawal of a publication from distribution
After publication, and throughout the entire period in which a publication is in distribution, it may be withdrawn from distribution for the following reasons:a) plagiarism or copyright infringement;
b) breach of confidentiality in the published research;
c) exposure of persons or institutions to slanderous or defamatory statements, or at the author’s express request.
